Nigeria Civil Defence deploys 100,000 Personnel for Easter

The NSCDC asked the public to report all suspicious characters and movement to security agencies for intervention.
The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, on Tuesday said it has deployed 100,000 personnel in preparation for the Easter celebration.

The Easter Celebration commences on April 18, Good Friday, and ends on April 21.
In a statement by its Head of Public Relations, Emmanuel Okeh, the civil defence said the deployment is to ensure a successful and peaceful Easter celebration.
Mr. Okeh said the Corps’ Commandant, Ade Abolurin, has directed all zonal and state commands to adequately deploy personnel to strategic places including criminal hideouts.
The directive, Mr. Okeh said, was given because some criminals capitalize on festivities to perpetrate
their nefarious activities.
He stated that in felicitating with Christians, the Corps has also engaged specialized units like the special forces and counter-terrorism unit.
Mr. Okeh asked Christians to see the period as an opportunity to pray for the unity of Nigeria and to ask for forgiveness of sins.
He also extended his sympathy to those who lost loved ones to the Monday bombing of the Nyanya Motor Park and urged the public to be law abiding and report all suspicious characters and movement to security agencies.
