National Conference condemns Abuja explosion


Over 50 people are believed to have died in the early Monday morning explosion.
The National Conference has passed a motion condemning Monday’s explosion in Abuja and resolved to send condolences to the families of those who died.

The conference also condemned the violent incidents in other places.
Over 50 people are believed to have died in the early Monday morning explosion in a filled park in Nyanya, Abuja, the Nigerian capital.
The motion of urgent public importance was moved by Ishaq Modibbo Kawu and 20 others including Hannatu Ibrahim from Gombe, who seconded it.
He relied on Order 7 (1) (v) of the Conference Rule.
Among the five prayers of the motion are that conference condemns the activities of the perpetrators of these heinous crimes; that the conference is concerned about the continuous deterioration of the security situation and calls upon the Federal Government, FG, to take urgent, drastic and concrete steps to arrest and immediately bring an end to these atrocities;  that all necessary measures be put in place to use proportional and non-excessive force to deal with the situation and safeguard the life, property and well-being of innocent civilian populations in all areas affected;…
