Wazobia FM Journalist Docked For Urinating In Public

54-year-old Wazobia 95.1 FM journalist, Pius-Junior Opute a.k.a OPJ was on Tuesday charged before a Tinubu Magistrates’ Court, Lagos for allegedly urinating in a drainage and resisting arrest.The accused, who lives at 41, Adeba St, Lakowe, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State, is facing a two-count charge of urinating in a drainage and resisting arrest, and was reported to have committed the offence on May 12 at about 8.00 p.m. at Marwa Bus Stop, Lekki.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Daniel Ighodalo, told the court that Opute resisted arrest and obstructed a free flow of traffic around the Lekki Toll Plaza.

Malaysia asks Inmarsat to make raw MH370 data public

The raw satellite data used to shape the search for Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 could soon be made public, according to a senior Malaysian official. Publication of the raw data could allow for independent analysis. Until now, the Malaysian government, which is in charge of the investigation, and Inmarsat, the company whose satellites communicated with the missing plane in its last hours, have declined to release it.

Protesters, police clash in Turkey mine fire site

Police in Soma, Turkey, used tear gas, plastic pellets and a water cannon Friday on protesters angry over the government’s response to a coal mine fire that killed at least 284 people. Protesters chanting “Don’t sleep, Soma, remember your dead!” coursed through city streets a few miles from the disaster site, trying to reach a statue honoring miners.

Jonathan cancels Chibok visit

President Goodluck Jonathan has called off a visit the town where more than 200 schoolgirls were abducted, officials say. Sources had told the BBC he would stop in Chibok, in the north-east, on his way to a conference in France on the threat from Boko Haram militants. But the visit was called off for security reasons, the officials said.

Global oil to grow in 2014 – IEA

International Energy Agency, (IEA), has revealed a greater rise in Global oil demand than expected this year, according to a new forecast that found consumption grew by 91.2m barrels per day (bpd) in Q4 last year. The forecast, in its monthly report on the oil market, said consumption accelerated by 135,000 bpd, buoyed by the recovery of advanced economies led by the US.
