Northern govs condemn attack

The Northern States Governors Forum,
NSGF, yesterday, condemned the bomb attack
which killed over 100 people and injured several
others at a bus terminal in Nyanya, Abuja, Monday.
This was evil as the Inspector General of Police,
Mohammed Abubakar, yesterday, asked Nigerians
to rise in unity against terrorism in the country.
Abubakar spoke through the Police Force Public
Relations Officer, CSP Frank Mba, in Abuja,
describing the explosion at the bus terminus as
“unfortunate terrorist attack.”
He said that Nigerians must be united to fight
against Boko Haram which he described as a
common enemy.
Chairman of the NSGF and Governor of Niger State,
Dr. Babangida Aliyu, in a statement by his Press
Secretary, Mallam Danladi Ndayebo, said there was
no basis for what the perpetrators did, adding that
the loss of innocent lives due to the explosion was
regrettable.
Aliyu expressed the forum’s deepest condolences
to the families of the victims, saying no grievance
can justify such a dastardly act against defenceless
Nigerians.
The forum, however, called for vigilance,
emphasising that the issue of security should not be
left to security agents alone.
He said: “The issue of security should not be left to
government alone. All hands must be on deck to
stop the activities of terrorists, which have left
hundreds of innocent Nigerians either dead or
wounded.”
The governors however, asked security agencies
not to be discouraged by the activities of terrorists.
