Premier League title is Chelsea's target - Terry

John Terry believes Chelsea must be aiming to win the Premier League after making "very big" signings in the summer. Jose Mourinho's men trailed the top-flight newcomers after Scott Arfield's early strike, but quickfire goals from Diego Costa, Andre Schurrle and Branislav Ivanovic led the Blues to a convincing victory. After the match Terry praised Chelsea's work in the summer transfer market - which has seen them sign the likes of Costa, Cesc Fabregas and Filipe Luis - and revealed his delight at getting three points on the board. "We've had some very big signings," the 33-year-old told the club's official website. "Diego Costa held it up well [against Burnley] and got on the score sheet which is a great start for him. "We're hoping to win the Premier League - that's our target this season. "It's going to be very tough. We've seen some quality play over the weekend from many teams but it was important we picked up three points and now we move on to the next one." Belgium attacker Eden Hazard echoed Terry's thoughts on Chelsea's business in the transfer market and added he is looking forward to working in tandem with Costa and Fabregas as the Blues look for their first title since 2010. "Diego Costa is a striker who can score every time and Cesc Fabregas, who has played in the Premier League before, did very well," the Belgian said. "Diego can score and that is good for me. Now I can concentrate on making passes for him."

Dr. Rima Laibow Insists Nano Silver Can Cure Ebola

One of the producers of controversial Ebola Virus remedy called Nano Silver refuted the statements that the product is not safe for use on infected patients. This contradicts the position of the Federal Government and of the National Health Research Ethics Committee. According to the latest interview by the Managing Director of US-based company Natural Solutions Foundation, Dr. Rima Laibow, Nano Silver has been deployed by her team of scientists during treatment of Ebola patients in Africa before the current epidemic outbreak. Nano Silver Developer Dr. Rima Laibow. “It is said that there is no cure or treatment against Ebola, and that is not true. In fact there is a well known, well characterised nutrient against the disease and that is Nano silver,”she said. Dr. Laibow listed some of its benefits: the drug is non-toxic, does not require refrigeration. It is cost effective, self-sterilising and would suit for everyone, including aged patients, pregnant mothers and even new-born babies. “Nano Silver leaves the beneficial bacteria and the healthy cells of the patient unaffected but it does kill every pathogen against which it has been tested worldwide without exception. There is no other effective solution against Ebola apart from this,”the doctor stated. Dr. Laibow explained that the drug had not got global recognition yet because each drug had to go through different stages of trial before it could have been brought forward. She expressed readiness to assist any affected country in management of Ebola virus, using the experimental drug. The doctor reminded that silver has been used as an antimicrobial agent for thousands of years. “Silverware, according to researchers, were used for food preservation in the past, had been proven to have anti-microbial activities that can reduce food and drink-borne diseases,”Dr. Laibow concluded.

According to a report published by Sahara reporters moments ago, a government source informed that a medical doctor at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) clinic in Lagos, who attended to one of the doctors that treated Patrick Sawyer, has developed Ebola symptoms. Ebola virus: CAF orders relocation of matches from Sierra Leone and Guinea

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has ordered Sierra Leone and Guinea to relocate their 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers because of the Ebola virus outbreak in their countries. CAF also wrote to its other member-associations to inform them of its decision to ask the two countries to relocate their home games in the AFCON qualifiers. It said in the letter that the move was “a preventative measure to avoid mass gatherings that could facilitate the spread of the virus’’. The continental football governing body also said the measure would remain in place until mid-September. It means at least the first two rounds of matches, scheduled for between Sept. 5 and Sept. 6, and 10 September, will be affected. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the World Health Organisation has till date reported 1,848 cases of Ebola. These cases have resulted in 1,013 deaths, mainly in Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia. Sierra Leone had already said it was not hosting matches until further notice, and it had asked Ghana if it can host its Group D matches there. Following CAF’s directive, Guinea will now need to find a new venue for their Group E tie against Togo. Togo had a few days ago said it was hoping the match in Guinea would be moved to another venue. Meanwhile, CAF has also moved to allay fears surrounding the two countries’ away fixtures. “Each federation whose country is affected by the virus must ensure their delegations travelling abroad can be examined before departure. “Each national association receiving delegations must communicate the necessary information delivered by health authorities to ensure the reception of teams… and if necessary to provide additional checks at arrival points,’’ it said. Sierra Leone is due to play Ivory Coast, DR Congo and Cameroon in the last round of qualifying. The qualifying competition runs from early September to mid-November. Guinea’s group also includes Ghana and Uganda. The qualifying competition will decide the 15 teams to join hosts Morocco at the African Nations Cup finals next January and February.

Ekiti NMA seeks isolation centre for Ebola patients

Nigerian Medical Association, Ekiti chapter, has called on Governor Kayode Fayemi to establish a centralized isolated camp for Ebola Virus cases. The association also appealed to the government to provide other standard personal protective equipment for its members to perform effectively in preventing and controlling the spread of the disease. At a press conference on Wednesday in Ado Ekiti, the state’s chapter chairman, Dr. John Akinbote, said in spite on the nationwide strike, the body had demonstrated its seriousness in curbing the scourge by setting up ‘Ekiti Ebola Control Committee’ to partner with the government for robust prevention mechanism. The NMA boss stated that the Committee, which would be coordinated by a Consultant and Public Health Physician, Dr. Victor Aduayi, comprised of well-skilled medical professionals from the state-based health institutions. “This is not the time to panic , but time to seek proper information. I also plead with our people to keep personal hygiene. It may be by regular hand washing because the virus can be contacted through body contact and with other body fluids,” he said. Describing the Ebola malaise as a serious challenge, Akinbote said the committee will soon begin a public sensitization programme. He urged Government to also complement their efforts by increasing their hazard allowance and introducing a well packaged health insurance policy for health workers at this critical time.

Expert cautions against using salt as Ebola treatment

An epidemiologist with the Kwara State ministry of health, Dr Michael Oguntoye, on Friday cautioned against the use of salt for the treatment of the Ebola Virus Disease. Oguntoye also advised Nigerians to beware of GSM text messages asking them to bath and drink salt solution as a preventive medicine against the dreaded virus. The expert on Public Health told the News Agency of Nigeria in Ilorin that he had received such messages and calls from people asking for the authenticity of the claim. He said the claim had not been medically proven that bathing with salt and drinking salt solution could cure or protect one from the Ebola virus. He said, “Ebola disease is contracted through close contact with blood, saliva, sweat, semen or secretions from organs of infected individuals and animals. “People are only advised to disinfect their surroundings with one cup of Jik in nine cups of water solution in all their surrounding daily.” According to the epidemiologist, there is no evidence to show that drinking salt can kill the virus. Oguntoye also warned people against using Jik solution to bath, adding that the solution is only to disinfect the surroundings against the virus. The expert reiterated that the virus is deadly with high mortality rate and no known cure. NAN reports that the outbreak of the Ebola virus had sickened 1,711 people and killed 932, according to World Health Organisation.
