Members of the defunct Congress for
Progressive Change, CPC, in Adamawa State have
disossociated themselves from the purported
defection of former Military Governor of Lagos
State, and gubernatorial candidate of the CPC in the
last general elections, General Buba Marwa (rtd)
Addressing the party’s stakeholders from all the 21
local government areas in Yola, yesterday, the
spokesperson of the former CPC members, Malam
Suleiman Abdullahi, said that they are still part and
parcel of All Progressives Congress, APC, in the
state.
Abdullahi described the claims that Marwa had
defected from the party to the ruling PDP as a huge
joke.
He noted that Marwa was solely on his own if he
had decamped to another party.
Meanwhile, there was a hot exchange of words
between the camps of General Marwa and
Governor Murtala Nyako.
The Director of Press and Public Affairs to Governor
Murtala Nyako, Mallam Ahmad Sajo had accused
Marwa of defecting to the PDP for selfish reasons.
Malam Sajo said: “We are aware that the Marwa
group had approached Governor Nyako severally
for money and they had equally contacted former
Vice President Atiku Abubakar for money as well.”
He also said the defection of Marwa will not affect
the fortunes of the party as he had no electoral
value with his inability to win his ward when he
contested the governorship of the state under the
platform of CPC in 2011.
However, in a swift reaction, the spokesman for
Marwa group, Mus Bubakari Kamale dismissed the
allegation as frivolous saying that the real reasons
behind Marwa’s defection was due to the
entrenchment of impunity, injustice, lack of internal
democracy and undemocratic culture being
entrenched in APC.
