Cavani talks up Real Madrid Friendly

Paris Saint-Germain striker
Edinson Cavani has talked up
his side’s friendly clash with
Real Madrid and says the
game will be an intriguing
spectacle despite there
being no points at stake.
The two clubs go head-to-head at the Khalifa Stadium
in Qatar on January 2 in a bid to retain a level of
match fitness during the respective winter breaks in
France and Spain.
And Cavani, who has scored 12 goals in his first 17
Ligue 1 games for PSG since joining from Napoli over
the summer, is relishing the prospect of facing
Madrid.
The 26-year-old told reporters: “Facing Real Madrid
is always something prestigious. Even if it’s a friendly
match and the result does not matter, this game is a
big one and a big picture. Hopefully, this should lead
to a good game.”
Les Parisiens have made a positive start to the
defence of their Ligue 1 crown and sit top of the
division heading into 2014 after taking 44 points from
their first 19 games.
Madrid, on the other hand, have endured a more
inconsistent start to the campaign under coach Carlo
Ancelotti – who of course left PSG for the Santiago
Bernabeu in June – and lie third in Liga, five points
adrift of joint leaders Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.
