Abia holds prayers for abducted Chibok girls

The people of Abia will on Friday in Umuahia hold an intercessory prayer session for the abducted Chibok girls. Bishop Goddy Okafor, Abia Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria, said that the session was organised in response to the association’s nationwide prayer initiative for the release of the girls.
Okafor said he believed in the efficacy of prayers to solve the current challenge and reunite the abducted girls with their families. “There is need for everyone to pray with faith so that the prayer session would be effective.” Okafor said Nigerians should not see the fight against Boko Haram as the business of the government alone, but everyone should play his part. Dr. Christian Onyemachi, the Coordinator of Abia Prayer Network, said that the current situation required divine intervention. “When the state was faced with the problem of kidnapping, constant prayers supported government’s efforts to stop kidnapping to become effective. “I believe that through constant prayers, the efforts of the Federal Government to rescue the girls would yield positive results,” he said.
