Winner of this year’s BMW Amateur Golf Tournament put organised by Coscharis Motors at the IBB Golf and Country Club Abuja, Barrister Paul Erokoro has said he would put in extra efforts to fly high Nigeria’s flag at next year’s BMW World championship in Malaysia. Erokoro said he was pleasantly surprised to know that he will be representing Nigeria because when he registered for the tournament, he took it like any other club tournament.
“When I entered this competition, I have absolutely no idea that there is international dimension to it. So, I had really no expectations but now that I will be representing Nigeria or one of those who will be representing Nigeria, I now realise that it is an additional responsibility. “I do not want this to come out the wrong way, it is not the first time I will win tournament and to represent. I have had several opportunities in the past and I understand that it is added responsibility to not just confirm to the rules of golf but to also carry the banner of the country,” he said. Speaking at the awards presentation, General Marketing Manager, Cocharis Motors, Mr. Abiona Babarinde expressed satisfaction with the turnout of golfers and assured the golfing community in Nigeria of his organisation’s continuous support. “As far as BMW brand is concerned, this tournament was fantastic and a huge success. The major objective for us as a brand is to let people and members of this club enjoy the brand,” he said.
